Friday 9th June International Batten Disease Awareness Day

9 June 2025

June 9 is International Batten Disease Awareness Day

Each year, around the world, families, friends and advocates stand together in honour of children, young people and families affected by Batten disease - a rare and devastating neurodegenerative disorder.

Today also marks the official launch of our national? Forget Me Knot? campaign, a simple but powerful act of remembrance and solidarity.

What you can do:
? Today, tie a knot around your finger, your wrist, your mailbox or anywhere visible to help us remember the children we've lost, support those still fighting, and raise awareness for the urgent need for research and support.
Snap a photo of your knot and share it using #ForgetMeKnot and #BattenDiseaseAwareness to spread the word.
However you choose to commemorate the day, whatever event or activity you choose to do, tag @BDSRAAustralia so we can be there with you.

????????????????

If you live in the Northern Beaches in Sydney, visit Northern Beaches Council who will be lighting up Manly Town Hall on the corner of Whistler St & The Corso tonight to commemorate International Batten Disease Awareness Day.

Together, we can ensure that no family faces Batten disease alone.
