Our recent BDSRA Australia Research Grant recipients at Lincoln University NZ are doing wonderful work in the field (literally!), helping to advance gene therapy studies for CLN5 disease. The ‘translational research’ they are conducting in large animal models (sheep) provides the necessary data that effectively ‘bridges the gap’, enabling basic laboratory research to be applied in large animal models and ultimately onwards into human clinical trials.
